Shaman Ivy
Ivy started as a "rescue MacGuffin", someone to be saved and that's it. But, there were complications with that. What about after the rescue?
Just dropping her off would just get her enslaved again, as Cassandra was after the Waverider story. Her village in Elarune was gone.
I also added depth to her as I did the Zarhalem story arc, and started to like the potential of the character. But, there was no natural role for her on the ship.
I started to look at the plan for the future adventure arc, and realized that a Shaman would be very useful there, and she was from Elarune. Something a bit more interesting was needed, so I made her an apprentice who wasn't fully trained, just to add some more risk to it.
From there, ideas sprouted. She got known in the spirit world as "The many-colored woman", and from there I added a kaleidoscopic aura to images of her in the spirit world.
So, she now has an interesting growth arc. She will grow as a shaman, but also has to get over her past, despite having it permanently etched onto her skin.
