Author's Notes

Itzalcoa

The inspiration for Itzalcoa is pretty clear, it's of course the Aztec (and other South American and Meso American cultures), but turned up to the max, with no redeeming qualities.

In many ways, their purpose in the game world isn't as much to be an interesting place as such, rather, it's about putting pressure on their neighbors, who are already under pressure from other directions.

Of course, it's also perfectly possible to use them as a "players get captured and is awaiting their doom" setting. The entire "Dance of the Doomed" was added for this purpose, to give the players time to escape, rather than just being slaughtered outright.
