Background
Marek grew up in the alleys of Albirica, where a child learned early that locked doors meant food, money or danger, and sometimes all three. He was small, quick and good at not being noticed. That kept him alive until he stole from someone with enough reach to make the city unsafe. He hid aboard a merchant ship, meant to get off at the next port and instead woke in Estoria with no friends, no plan and three stolen rings sewn into his sleeve.
Estoria suited him badly at first. Too many guards, too many gangs, too many people who knew exactly what a desperate thief looked like. Over time he adapted. Marek became the one sent through windows, over walls and under tables. He opens locks, lifts keys, follows people through crowds and hears conversations no one meant him to hear. Qadir hired him after Marek broke into the wrong room, stole the right letter and had the sense to sell it back quietly.
