The Expanding Silence

This one comes from the thought "What if Necropolis goes from a well known, predictable danger to a growing, unpredictable danger?".

I wanted to do it without explaining what Necropolis really is, so it couldn't be demons or gods coming out of it or something like that. I wanted it to remain Necropolis in feel, unexplained, functioning according to the established logic. With that decided, the decision was to have it spread like a stain on the map, filling everything it touches every night.

What makes this flavor interesting isn't the spreading of Necropolis as such, but how the world reacts to it. The empire is badly wounded, and tries to move out. Other powers sense the weakness, and exploit it. Armies move, refugees move. Theories, cults and doomsday prophesies abound.

The world has decided that things are all coming to an end, and tries to make sense of it, escape it for a while, or simply exploit it.
