Seers
This is something which most games treat as a "magic spy camera", "magic telescope", or, possibly, "magic telephone".
That's way to practical for my taste.
So, instead, I took inspirations from prophets, especially from the TV series Millenium.
Visions are not a gift you choose, it's an obligation which you are cursed with. You don't control them, you receive them when whatever deity sends them deems necessary, and they are usually visions of horrible events.
Visions don't come gentle. It is as if some divine being is screaming to your brain in a language you can't understand, yet flashes of it is decipherable, and usually images of horror. It's not uncommon for seers to go mad, if they were even sane to begin with.
They do have a place of respect in society. They are seen as wise and the counsel of their visions is valued. But, as Cassandra of Troy found out, unpopular prophecies may quickly turn that into hate.
