Halflings
Halflings are one of those peoples which are pretty well defined, and, to be honest, pretty boring. But, that is their thing, so it's hard to make them interesting.
My solution to making them more interesting, without changing them too much, was to team them up with giants, and put them in a comfortable, but precarious geopolitical situation. So, they have a nice life, but it is threatened.
Other than that, they are pretty bog standard halflings.
