Author's Notes

Tideforest

While in some ways similar to Murkwater, it is a darker place. While the fibians might look colorful, they have little sympathy for outsiders, and are much more likely to kill them, and do so in cruel ways.

The inspirations come from the image generation done for the fibians of Murkwater, when I tried to base them on tropical frogs. Those images, and a tropical mangrove swamp was all I needed to set my imagination going.

There religion is based on the fact that they are based on tree frogs, so they bridge the "above" and the "below". I started there, and ended with the Tree Father and the Tide Mother. As they are primitive creatures, I didn't want to complicate things further.

There is also some inspiration from Hyperion by Dan Simmons, in the form of the Shrike's tree of pain.
