Pirates
The inspiration is obvious, the golden age of piracy.
However, in true Heroica spirit, they are not dashing swashbucklers. They are killers, robbers and slavers. Sure, there is a certain romanticism around them in the world, but do not take them for good guys.
They are a powerful group, and even nations fear them. They are strategically positioned to bleed the trade routes, and they do so whenever they get the chance.
