Author's Notes

Morvelyn

Morvelyn is based on the concept of "is the price of salvation worth it?", and what it means to remain human. It's also one of the clearest examples of the Heroica design philosophy that everything will fall apart eventually. A great cultural beacon, becoming a frightened ruin. No amount of goof intentions could save them, and now they kill their own out of fear.

Surprisingly, this is not inspired by Hyperion by Dan Simmons, except for the name of Sad King Netkar, as I read that book after I made the notes for Morvelyn, but there are some striking similarites.
