The inspiration here is obvious: Vikings.
There are some changes, though. Instead of the traditional viking gods, they worship dragons. The main reason for this was that I had an idea of a pantheon of dragons ascended to godhood, and vikings worshipping dragons just made a perfect fit. The other reason is that the traditional norse gods are a bit overused, and feels too much "real world".
